Actor Awards 2025/2026: A ausência lamentada de Wagner Moura

Wagner Moura

O site Next Best Picture comenta diversas ausências na lista de indicados ao ex-Screen Actors Guild, agora Actor Awards, inclusive a categoria de Melhor Ator:

(…) The only slight surprise here was a nomination for Jesse Plemons, another show of support for “Bugonia.” Joel Edgerton missed despite a CCA nomination. Unsurprisingly, Wagner Moura missed as well, yet another sign of the lack of love for non-English language films. Many had predicted that this was the last place Dwayne Johnson could still show up, given the populist voting bloc, but that never panned out for him or Emily Blunt. No Jeremy Allen White either, or Oscar Isaac, despite the Cast nomination.

As in Best Actress, the conventional wisdom would be to remove the weakest link, Plemons, and replace him with Moura or Edgerton. While both “The Secret Agent” and “Train Dreams” have risen in the last month or two, and both seem more secure than ever for a Best Picture nomination, the Academy is very friendly to non-English performances. I would give Moura the edge.

Na Variety:

The nominations for the 2026 Actor Awards (previously the SAG Awards) have been announced, and Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”) and Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”) are among the biggest snubs as the Oscar race continues to take shape.

(…) Wagner Moura, who won best actor honors at Cannes and is widely seen as a frontrunner for an Oscar nomination for “The Secret Agent,” was also snubbed by the Actor Awards. The SAG-AFTRA voting body is far more domestic than the international make-up of the Academy’s actors branch. With nominations from the Globes and Critics Choice Awards, plus a win from the New York Film Critics Circle, Moura appears to remain a major contender going into the Oscar nominations.
